Abby Joseph Cohen, Goldman Sachs’ chief U.S. investment strategist, said on January 2nd, 2008, that he expects Dow Jones industrial average to end the year around 14,750 and the S&P 500 to close at 1,675.
Current: DJ: 8,668, S&P 500: 890, Nasdaq: 1,550. Cohen was 70% and 88% wrong.

The White House staff has been briefing Barack Obama’s team on a series of worst-case scenarios that could face the country after President Bush leaves office. That’s the latest. Yeah. Apparently, the absolute worst case scenario is that Bush doesn’t leave office. (目前預測最糟糕的狀況就是Bush不會離開白宮)
Queen Elizabeth has announced that the economy is so bad in England, she is asking all members of the royal family to reduce their spending, otherwise, they would face the ultimate disaster, you know, having to get a real job. (在英國最糟的災難就是貴族要找工作了)
Now here’s something historical. In January, all five living presidents are scheduled to have lunch together. Clinton suggested the VIP room at Hooters. (美國所有的總統要一起吃飯，Clinton建議去Hooters餐廳因為女服務生都是波霸)
President Bush is hosting a lunch next month with President-elect Obama and all the former presidents. Isn’t that cool? Yeah. Bush said, ‘I invited all 43 guys, but only four responded.’ He doesn’t know what happened. (Bush總統本來邀請43個美國總統聚餐，但是只有4位答應，他搞不清楚為什麼)
And the big financial story, Bernard Madoff, the man they call the most hated man in New York, as you know, has been arrested after confessing to defrauding investors out of $50 billion. That’s almost hard to believe. But the good news, today he was named A.I.G.’s man of the year. (騙投資家500億美金的Madoff被AIG銀行稱為2008年人物)
It’s been so cold in America this past week that Bill and Hillary got into the same bed. It’s that cold. (今年好冷Clinton總統與夫人Hillary終於決定睡同一個床)
